2015 HGTV Dream Home Feature [Outdoor Dog House]

No true dream home would be worth the title if there wasn't a special place to call home for all members of the family especially their beloved pets. As a result, the designers and builders of the 2015 HGTV Dream Home anticipated this potential need by building an "HGTV Doggy Dream Home" in the same Cape Cod style of the main house for a four legged family member.

The mini-me dog house incorporates creatively designed food and water window boxes, as well as a unique canine inspired, fully functional weather vane.

2015 HGTV Dream Home Features [Outdoor Shower]

One of the unique architectural features of the 2015 HGTV Dream Home is the installation of an outdoor shower stall flanking one side of the backyard patio area. This outdoor shower is great for cleaning oneself up after long day at the beach or working in the garden, instead of dragging the sand and the dirt into the main house itself.  In the warmer months of the year, an outdoor shower also can come in handy when you have guests, who usually consider it a great treat to shower in the garden and commune with nature at the same time.

The main shower wall is utilizes the main home's cedar shingle siding both because they are durable and because they smell so good.

HGTV Dream Home: Truckee, California Transporation Overview

The following is an overview of the transportation system in Truckee, California, the location site of the HGTV 2014 Dream Home

Truckee grew as a railroad town originally named Coburn Station, starting with the Transcontinental Railroad. The railroad goes into downtown Truckee and the Amtrak passenger lines still stop there on the trip from Chicago to San Francisco.

Amtrak, the national passenger rail system, provides service to Truckee.  Amtrak Train 5, the westbound California Zephyr, departs Truckee daily with service to Colfax, Roseville, Sacramento, Davis, Martinez, and Emeryville across the bay from San Francisco. Amtrak Train 6, the eastbound California Zephyr, departs Truckee daily with service to Reno, Sparks, Winnemucca, Elko, Salt Lake City, Provo, Helper, Green River, Grand Junction, Glenwood Springs, Denver, Omaha, Galesburg, and Chicago.

There is a free public bus, operated by neighboring Placer County, California; this connects the Truckee train station to the West Shore of Lake Tahoe, and a second goes to Incline Village, Nevada. There are also winter ski buses between Reno Airport and the ski areas near Truckee. Greyhound operates from the Amtrak rail station, going west to Sacramento and San Francisco, and east to Reno, Salt Lake City and Denver. There are also private bus companies from the San Francisco Bay Area which bring skiers up to Truckee for day trips.
Interstate 80 passes just to the north of central Truckee.

The Truckee-Tahoe Airport provides access to the North Lake Tahoe recreational area through general aviation services. The airport is not serviced by any commercial airline at the present time.
